Henglos IO
Getting started

Quickstart

From nothing to a workflow running on an ESP32.

Run Henglos IO

With Docker, from the repository's deploy/docker folder:

cd deploy/docker
cp .env.example .env # fill in HIO_JWT_SECRET and HIO_SECRETS_KEY — openssl rand -hex 32
docker compose up -d

Open http://localhost — the first time, it asks you to create your account. Domains, HTTPS and every setting are in Self-hosting.

Install the CLI & Driver

Install the Henglos IO CLI using the installation script:

curl -fsSL [https://henglos.io/get-hio.sh](https://henglos.io/get-hio.sh) | sh

Then configure and start your driver:

hio driver configure http://localhost
hio driver login <pair-token> "My bench" # the token from the studio's Drivers page
hio driver start

See Pair a driver.

Create a workflow

In the Hub, click New workflow, pick a target board (ESP32) and a platform version. Add components from the library and wire their actions — see Your first workflow.

Upload and run

Select the driver and the board's port in the studio, compile and upload, then press Execute — or Debug to go through it one action at a time.

What you need

  • Where Henglos IO runs — a machine or server with Docker.
  • Where the board is plugged in — Docker (the driver builds what the board runs in a container). It can be the same machine.
  • A board — an ESP32 dev board is the reference target — and a USB cable that carries data, with the board's USB-serial driver (CP210x / CH340) if your OS needs one.
